The category winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony taking place at New York City’s iconic Tavern on the Green restaurant on January 29, 2018.
Leading into Legaltech New York, the awards ceremony is a celebration of those who are taking a leading role in transforming how corporations, non-profits and public agencies respond to litigation. The evening will see the Hon. Craig B. Shaffer presented with the Hon. Shira Scheindlin Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his career to date that has advanced the practice of electronic discovery. As U.S. Magistrate Judge for the District of Colorado, Judge Shaffer has provided countless contributions to the advancement of electronic discovery. His notable opinions from the bench, including the formative Cache v. Land O’Lakes ruling, have helped chart the course of e-discovery. Judge Shaffer has published numerous influential articles and spent significant time teaching and lecturing around the country, demonstrating his enduring leadership and mentorship.
Additionally, the ceremony will present the Pinnacle Award to three deserving recipients who have continuously contributed from the bench to providing direction to the bar and corporate legal teams about how to handle the rapidly changing demands of electronic discovery in civil litigation. The award, given to individuals outside of corporate legal teams, will recognize the Hon. James Francis, the Hon. Frank Maas, and the Hon. Andrew Peck, each recipient a U.S. Magistrate in the Southern District of New York.
