The influx of calls to the group came in response to a press release about a New Mexico-based government contractor that paid $11.75 million to settle allegations that it overbilled the United States for services. The company allegedly received six federal grants from the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, and Federal Emergency Management Agency to train first responders of terrorism attacks. According to the lawsuit, the company allegedly requested more funds than they actually used by stating they would use much more expensive personnel than they actually did. As a result, they allegedly knowingly overbilled the government.
