Corporate Whistleblower Center Urges Physicians With Solid Proof A Device Or Drug Company Is Paying Off MD's With Speaking Fees To Call Them About Recent DOJ Reward
(PRWEB) April 21, 2014 -- The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, "Aside from doing something in the best interest for innocent patients, we believe medical doctors who blow the whistle on drug makers, or medical device manufacturers providing kickback, or payoffs can be incredibly profitable for the doctor. The only caveat is, the doctor must have substantial proof that is well documented." According to a December 3013 DOJ press release, Abbott Laboratories has agreed to pay the United States Government $5.475 million to resolve allegations that it violated the False Claims Act by allegedly paying kickbacks to doctors who implanted the company’s carotid, biliary, and peripheral vascular products. Abbott Laboratories is a global pharmaceuticals and health care products company based in Abbott Park, Ill.
The settlement resolves allegations that Abbott allegedly paid prominent physicians for teaching assignments, speaking engagements, and attending conferences. The expectation was that allegedly these physicians would arrange for the hospitals with which they were affiliated with to purchase Abbott’s carotid, biliary, and peripheral vascular products. As a result, the United States Government alleged Abbott violated the Anti-Kickback Act, and submitted false claims to Medicare for procedures in which these Abbott products were used. http://CorporateWhistleblowerCenter.Com
In this case, the whistleblower will receive a total payment of more than $1 million.
Simple rules for a whistleblower from the Corporate Whistleblower Center:
- Do not go to the government first if you are a major whistleblower. The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, “Major whistleblowers frequently go to the federal government thinking they will help. It’s a huge mistake.”
- Do not go to the news media with your whistleblower information. Public revelation of a whistleblower’s information could destroy any prospect for a reward.
- Do not try to force a government contractor, or corporation to come clean to the government about their wrongdoing. The Corporate Whistleblower Center says, “Fraud is so rampant among federal contractors that any suggestion of exposure might result in an instant job termination, or harassment of the whistleblower. Come to us first, tell us what type of information you have, and if we think it’s sufficient, we will help find the right law firms to assist in advancing your information.”
- The Corporate Whistleblower Center wants to emphasize there are high quality whistleblowers in every state including California, New York, Florida, Texas, Massachusetts, Maryland, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Missouri, Michigan, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska.
