Corra Group Prepares for First Quarter Employment Screening Demand on News of Economic Recovery
El Segundo, CA (PRWEB) December 29, 2013 -- Corra Group is preparing for a surge of employment screening orders as its clients ramp up on news of a strong economic recovery for 2014. Given the surge in domestic production of durable goods, the El Segundo based background screening service believes it will be a robust first quarter.
“First quarters are often strong for us,” said Gordon Basichis, Co-Founder of Corra Group. “Employers determine their hiring needs and new budgets are allocated for staffing. Typically, most employers are happy to be over and done with the old year and are looking forward to making new headway in the year ahead.”
“Since projections for 2014 show a pretty determined economic recovery, it would stand to reason companies will be hiring more people. Many employers have been dealing for so long with a pared down staff, cutting to the bone in some cases, they are finding their employees overworked and restless. Employers need bring in additional personnel.”
Basichis noted that most employers have increased their budgets for employment screening. He cited that the vagaries of staffing and recruiting necessitate that employers conduct a more comprehensive series of background checks.
“Some employers in order to watch their wallets can order a more limited range of background checks,” said Basichis. “But after a while they realize they may find gaps in the process. We see a major increase in background searches in the healthcare industry. Simply put, the more background checks you order the less the chance that a candidate’s criminal record or bogus college degree will slip through the cracks.
“Once upon a time, many domestic employers would take their initial employment candidates at their word,” said Basichis. “They would accept on face value that their candidates had legitimate college degrees. But with the general recognition of diploma mills and counterfeit diplomas, that time has come and gone. Employers realize they have to conduct education verification searches domestically and internationally."
"Equally important, employers realize the most accurate criminal records search is the county criminal search,” said Basichis. “That’s where they will find pending cases, outstanding warrants, diversions and deferrals. This information is vital for a proper hiring decision.”
Basichis reiterated that domestic production on durable goods has increased substantially. “Durable goods orders in the recent past have increased by 3.5 percent,” said Basichis. “Manufacturing requires a rather large labor pool. If the increase in production and manufacturing continues into the New Year, manufacturers will most likely need to hire more people. More jobs. That means a busy time for Corra Group.
