Corra Group Puts All Puerto Rico Background Checks on Hold Until Further Notice
El Segundo, CA (PRWEB) October 18, 2017 -- Corra Group has discontinued all Puerto Rico Background Checks until further notice. The devastation to the island territory from Hurricane Maria has made it questionable when such public services as criminal and civil records checks, and Motor Vehicle Driving Records will again be accessible for employment screening purposes.
“It is just absolutely tragic, all the destruction to Puerto Rico, “said Corra Group Co-Founder, Nick Gustavson. “The citizens are in desperate need of food and fuel, and hospital supplies. The electric grid has been destroyed. This is no time to expect any government agency to be paying attention to background checks.
“Our researchers have advised us that there will be no access checks until further notice,” said Gustavson. “We at Corra Group believe it will be many months before most government services are even partially restored.”
Gustavson remarked that before the storm, Corra Group had been providing from Puerto Rico county criminal records searches, county civil records searches, and statewide criminal records searches, as well as MVRS and education and employment verification searches. He noted it is the criminal and civil searches, and the motor vehicle records that are principally put on hold.
“We have a number of clients who are headquartered in Puerto Rico,” said Gustavson. “Additionally, we have mainland based clients who have been hiring many Puerto Rican citizens who have been coming to the mainland to escape the economic crisis that was occurring even before the ravages of the hurricane. Now, we expect to see more Puerto Rican citizens fleeing the island and seeking work in mainland America. The devastation is beyond tragic.
“We are hearing about delays in other areas of the Caribbean, including of course the Virgin Islands. However, we are still able to provide a variety of international background checks from other parts of Latin American, including criminal and civil records, and education and employment verification."
