Countdown to Opening: The New Memory Care Program at Allerton House Assisted Living in Hingham, MA Opens October 2013
Hingham, MA (PRWEB) July 29, 2013 -- In less than two months, Welch Healthcare and Retirement Group expects to open a New Memory Care Neighborhood at the family-owned company’s Allerton House Assisted Living Community in Hingham, on the South Shore of Massachusetts. The Centers for Disease Control places the number of Americans with Alzheimer’s disease at 5.4 million. By the year 2050, that number is expected to mushroom – to 16 million.
Alzheimer’s disease is a chronic, progressive memory disorder, characterized, in its earliest stages by a modest loss in the ability to remember. In the latter stages of the disease, Alzheimer’s can inhibit an individual’s ability to converse, carry out daily tasks and interact with the world around them.
The new Memory Care Program will feature a total of 13 rental apartments - 10 studio apartments and three companion suites within a secure new program. A dedicated program director and enrichment coordinator are key components of the program. Care is overseen by a resident services director.
Other features of the program will include:
• A dedicated, dementia-trained team, 24-hours a day
• Three nutritious meals daily in the Memory Care Dining Room
• Personal care assistance and medication management

The New Memory Care Program at Allerton House in Hingham, MA will follow the Alzheimer’s Association Habilitation Therapy Methods. In anticipation of the fall opening, the community is holding a series of free programs related to issues surrounding memory loss.
