Countertop Company Experiences Extreme Growth; Gains Reputation for Efficiency
Norman, Oklahoma (PRWEB) October 31, 2013 -- Jeremiah Rivers founded Rivers’ Edge Countertops in 2008 with nothing but his skills and a dream. Now, the company is projected to exceed $2 million dollars in sales by the end of 2013.
Rivers said he became interested in countertops while working in the industry during college.
“At that time I began dealing with low-end laminate products,” he said. “It wasn’t until I discovered recycled glass that I really decided to strike out on my own.”
And strike out he did. Rivers developed his own, more cost-effective version of high-end recycled glass countertops. However, manufacturing costs of the product proved to be dangerous to the company’s survival.
“We had to increase pricing to keep up with manufacturing costs,” Rivers said. “It was devastating to our sales.”
Sales decreased so rapidly, in fact, Rivers’ Edge sold a mere $500,000 in product for the 2012 fiscal year.
“With four employees to pay, I dreaded having to close my shop,” Rivers said.
Despite the devastation, Rivers persevered and added granite, marble and quartz to his company’s repertoire. As a result, the company grew astronomically.
“Our growth has been absolutely phenomenal throughout the last year,” Rivers said. “We’ve seen a 369% increase in revenue, tripled our staff and haven’t missed an installation date in over 8 months.”
In a constantly fluctuating industry like home building punctuality is paramount to success.
“In my industry, it is incredibly important to be the company that gets things done,” Rivers said. “So many things get delayed in home construction and renovation, it makes us look bad. Having a reputation for efficiency and reliability is so important to us.”
So much so that as his business increased, Rivers said his company began to get attention from four of the top 10 homebuilders in Oklahoma.
One of those homebuilders, 4 Corners Homes, honored Rivers with the Rookie of the Year Award earlier in Sept. 2013.
He said he intends to hire 24 more people within the next year--bringing his staff total to 46 people--and has plans to expand into other markets including Dallas and Kansas City.
“Our goal is to be the Nation’s leading countertop service provider,” Rivers said.
