Country Rock Artist Jared Blake Treats Serenity Recovery Center Patients to a Private Performance
Marne, Michigan (PRWEB) December 30, 2015 -- Jared Blake, star of TV’s “The Voice”, makes a special private appearance at Serenity Recovery Center.
Offering encouragement and motivation to patients at Serenity Recovery Center, a holistic treatment center for substance abuse located in Central Michigan, Country Rock singer and songwriter Jared Blake performed a small private concert at the rehabilitation facility. On Sunday, December 13th, 2015, Blake, with two members of his live band, took the stage at Serenity and played a few acoustic songs, sharing his own story of addiction and recovery in between them.
Stage performers, especially musicians, have a deeply rooted ability to connect with their audience on a personal level, and Blake is no exception to that. “For me, it’s not even talking to them about what they’re going through,” he commented in an interview the day of his performance, “just telling them what I went through. Pretty much all of us are the same, we all relate to the same stuff.” He has been very vocal about his past struggles with addiction, and today he uses his public exposure as a musician to spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and the benefits of recovery.
“Many of our patients express their concerns that they will never be able to have fun or enjoy life again without using drugs or alcohol,” commented Serenity Recovery founder Per Wickstrom. “Jared’s performance was helpful in showing them that they don’t need to be under the influence to find pleasure in life, and can actually enjoy the things that life has to offer us even more when they are in a clean and sober frame of mind. And, how much better is a concert when you can actually remember it? We appreciate Jared paying our treatment facility a visit, and sharing with us his story of success in recovery from addiction.
”Blake has music in his blood, having written his first tune at the age of 5. Throughout his youth, he astonished audiences and crushed competition in various talent shows and music competitions. In 2011, he was featured on reality TV show The Voice, where he was part of Country music legend Blake Shelton’s team. That same year, he released his first single, “Don’t Mind”, and has released several more singles and an EP since then.
When substance abuse threatened to end his music career, and his life, before he could even get it off of the ground, Blake found recovery. Now, he has a new purpose and direction in life, using his platform of music as a way to offer hope and encouragement to those struggling with addiction. “I got sober so that I can live my life,” he continued in his interview. “If you want incredible things, you want to do incredible things, then you have got to live in a way that makes you incredible. Live to be something that betters this world. Live to be something that you want to be."
His interview and clips from his performance are available for viewing on the Serenity Recovery YouTube channel or watch the video here.
