Court.us.org Updates Terms of Service to Clarify That Arrest Records Cannot Be Removed
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2013 -- Court.us.org has updated their terms of service to make it clear that they will not accept offers of payment to remove court records from their database, the company said yesterday.
“When we launched our company, we never even suspected that this would become an issue,” a Court.us.org spokesman said. “But every day, our customer service staff gets calls from people who want to pay us to remove negative information. It would be unethical for us to do it, and we want to clarify that we will not do it under any circumstances.”
Many people and companies use Court.us.org to do background checks on people they are thinking about dating or who have applied for jobs at their company, he said.
“We offer independent marriage, divorce and arrest records,” the Court.us.org spokesman said. “It goes without saying that there are people out there who would rather people not be able to find out that they had a run in with the law. But our business is to help people find the truth, not help shady people whitewash their past.”
The Court.us.org spokesman said the only time a record is ever removed from their database is when court officials have seized the records from public view.
“If a judge deems the record is no longer public, then we respect the law,” the Court.us.org spokesman said. “But in all other cases our data remains complete, up to date, and accurate.”
