Covenant House Toronto Website Offers a Better View of Its Programs for Homeless Youth

As Canada’s largest homeless youth agency, Covenant House Toronto offers much more than a crisis shelter and the new website reflects the breadth of its programming. Every program is given a full description that will offer visitors a sense of the size and scope of the organization. The site explains how it serves the diverse needs of homeless youth at every point along their journeys to independence.
“The website provides the feeling of a virtual tour of the house,” says Josie do Rego, director of development and communications. “When we take people through Covenant House, they are always surprised by all the services we offer our kids. We wanted our site to give visitors that same feeling.”
The site expands on Covenant House Toronto’s growing advocacy efforts. The agency works with all levels of government and other stakeholders like the Toronto Police. It also has a school presentation program where representatives speak to school groups across South Central Ontario. Supporters and students can find information on the site about this advocacy work along with issues that affect homeless youth such as prostitution and human trafficking, child welfare and youth employment. The site also has more information about volunteering, events and ways to donate.
Along with the redesigned website, Covenant House Toronto launched a new blog at http://www.CovenantHouseToronto.ca/Blog. The blog features new profiles of youth, as well as updates on its programs, events and advocacy work. It also showcases blog posts from staff members that will give a personal perspective on the unique joys and challenges of working with homeless youth.
Covenant House Toronto offers the broadest range of services under one roof for homeless youth in Canada, including a crisis shelter and longer-term housing, a drop-in center, a health clinic, a job center, an onsite high school, a mental health day program, a culinary arts training program and more. Last year, the agency served about 3,000 youth.
