Cox Smith Names Six New Shareholders
San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) January 15, 2015 -- Cox Smith, the largest law firm in San Antonio, today announced that Matthew Cole (Litigation), Matthew Crowell (Oil, Gas & Energy Law), Meghan Bishop DeBard (Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights), (Lisa Donaldson (Immigration Law), Aaron Kaufman (Bankruptcy & Creditors’ Rights) and Tyler Peace (Estate Planning & Trusts) have been named shareholders of the firm.
Matt Cole advises clients in complex commercial litigation, where he focuses on understanding his client’s business, forming an early and accurate risk evaluation, and executing a variety of creative strategies that work for the business. He is a graduate of Columbia International University and Baylor University School of Law.
Matthew Crowell assists clients with a wide variety of matters related to energy, natural resources and real property law. He is Board Certified in Oil, Gas and Mineral Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. His practice is focused on representing landowners and upstream oil gas operators in oil and gas related matters including exploration agreements, financing transactions, mineral title examination, drafting instruments affecting real property interests, lease negotiation and land management issues. Additionally, Matthew assists clients with farm and ranch sales, surface use agreements and issues affecting operators and non-operators in oil and gas transactions. He is a graduate of Texas A & M University, Baylor University School of Law, and earned a master’s degree in international affairs from the George Bush School of Government and Public Service.
Meghan Bishop DeBard advises clients on matters related to creditors’ rights and bankruptcy. With a background in energy and natural resources law, she has significant experience handling bankruptcy matters for exploration and production companies and other energy industry clients, in addition to representing commercial real estate entities, small to mid-sized banks and other creditors in commercial bankruptcies across many industries. In addition to regular speaking engagements and publication of articles regarding various bankruptcy topics, in 2012 DeBard co-authored a book, When Gushers Go Dry: The Essentials of Oil and Gas Bankruptcy, that was published by the American Bankruptcy Institute. She is a graduate of Tulane University School of Law, the University of Maryland (Baltimore County), and earned a master’s degree from Georgetown University.
Lisa Donaldson, a member of Cox Smith’s immigration and international trade practice, is based in the firm’s El Paso office. She focuses on immigration and international trade law for individual and corporate clients in the healthcare, education, manufacturing, hospitality, agriculture and entertainment industries, as well as on family-based immigration, naturalization and removal defense. As part of her practice, she assists multinational clients with family-based and employment-based immigration, consular processing, naturalization, worksite compliance and nonimmigrant trade, investment and employment-based visas. She is a graduate of Boston University and Columbia University School of Law.
Aaron Kaufman advises clients on a full range of commercial bankruptcy matters, including representation of debtors, creditors, committees, banks, landlords, tenants, trustees, equity holders and prospective purchasers in mid-sized to large bankruptcy cases and related litigation. He has experience in a wide range of industries including retail, health care and senior living, hospitality, commercial and residential real estate, technology, oil and gas and wholesale distribution. Kaufman is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Houston Law Center.
Tyler Peace, Board Certified in Estate Planning and Probate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, advises clients on matters related to estate planning, probate, and wealth transfer law. He has experience with complex issues related to closely-held and family-owned ownership and management planning, succession and transition. He assists clients in planning and implementing sophisticated estate plans, including the preparation of tax-planned wills, defective grantor trusts, grantor retained annuity trusts, and family limited partnerships. Peace is a graduate of Texas A & M University and the University of Texas School of Law.
