CPDC Receives 2016 Nonprofit Developer of the Year Award at HAND Annual Meeting
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) June 21, 2016 -- Leading Mid-Atlantic affordable housing developer CPDC today will be recognized as ‘2016 Nonprofit Developer of the Year’ at The Housing Association of Nonprofit Developers (HAND) 25th Annual Meeting.
The top award comes as CPDC recently closed on a significant affordable housing redevelopment project in D.C.: Fort Stevens Place.
HAND announced winners of its 2016 Housing Achievement Awards in April with CPDC receiving the highest honor for our work building thriving communities across the Washington D.C. metropolitan region last year.
“Through expansion into new markets, our Community Impact Strategies model and cultivation of mixed-income communities, CPDC has made great strides toward our Strategic Plan while laying the foundation for continued impact in affordable housing and community development,” said J. Michael Pitchford, CPDC President. “We are honored to be named HAND’s ‘2016 Nonprofit Developer of the Year.’”
Coinciding with the award, CPDC in May moved forward with a significant new affordable housing preservation project in with the closing on Fort Stevens Place, a 59-unit low income housing tax credit community located in the rapidly gentrifying Brightwood neighborhood of Northwest, D.C. CPDC plans to substantially renovate the property with electrical, plumbing and mechanical upgrades, new kitchens and baths, and roof and window replacement.
In addition to being named ‘2016 Nonprofit Developer of the Year,’ CPDC youth resident Keneth-Ryan DeSouza of the organization’s Alexandria, VA Stony Brook community will also be recognized at the HAND meeting for placing as a runner up in HAND’s 12th Annual Children’s Art Contest for the theme: “Who is Your Trailblazer?”
HAND’s Annual Housing Achievement Awards recognize the most outstanding and innovative housing developments, programs and solutions across the metropolitan region.
