Craft & Hobby Association Announces Keynote Speaker at 2016 CHA MEGA Conference & Trade Show
Elmwood Park, NJ (PRWEB) September 15, 2015 -- Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) is pleased to announce that Philip Fimmano of Trend Union will be the keynote speaker at the 75th anniversary CHA MEGA Conference & Trade Show (CHA MEGA Show), January 7-12, 2016 at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. The headline presentation, “A World Of Craft”, will take place on Saturday, January 9 at 8:00 a.m.
Fimmano will explore international trends in art, fashion and décor, and will use inspiring visuals to illustrate how these future styles, colors, materials and techniques influence the craft and DIY markets.
“Creative consumers are involved in the personalization process now more than ever before, and are using collage, knits, prints, technology and other techniques to formulate their own vocabulary,” said Mr. Fimmano. “I will share how this movement affects the current business of crafts and DIY, as well as how it will affect the industry in the future.”
As a contemporary fashion and design specialist, Fimmano contributes to Trend Union’s books and Bloom magazine, and provides strategic advice for various international brands. He travels alongside his business partner and company founder Li Edelkoort, working in industries as varied as fashion, textiles, interiors, food, craft, DIY and retail. He is also the Director of the New York-based creative studio Edelkoort Inc., providing concept, color and strategic consulting to companies in North America and South America. In 2011, he co-founded Talking Textiles, an ongoing initiative to promote awareness and innovation in textiles through touring exhibitions and educational programs. The creative platform TrendTablet.com is an inspiring and free-to-use source for tracking the evolution of trends.
Fimmano has spoken about art, craft and design at high profile institutions, such as Musée du Quai Branly in Paris, Nordiska Museet in Stockholm, Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons The New School for Design in New York, and the Royal College of Art in London. In 2008, he organized an international symposium about the future role of craft in art and design in Stavanger, Norway.
“Mr. Fimmano’s keynote speech will provide a unique vision of creative trends and will stimulate fresh ideas for retailing the new innovations that attendees discover at the CHA MEGA Show,“ said Mark Hill, Interim President and Chief Executive Officer of CHA.
“A World of Craft” is open to all attendees of the CHA MEGA Show. The Show is the only event of its kind in North America, showcasing the latest crafting trends, innovations and education that will drive consumer sales in the year ahead. Registration for the CHA MEGA Show opens on September 16, 2015. More information can be found at http://www.chamegashow.org.
