Craig Bickhardt: Making Music and Making a Difference a New Kind of Crowd Funding Campaign
(PRWEB) January 29, 2014 -- Veteran singer-songwriter Craig Bickhardt has launched a Pledge Music Campaign that incorporates philanthropy and volunteer service into each of the pledge levels of his drive. The campaign will raise funds for the production and promotion of his new CD titled “The More I Wonder,” slated for April 2014 release. This will be Bickhardt’s fifth CD to date on Stone Barn Records, but it’s his first foray into the crowd funding arena, a method of subsidizing that has become increasingly popular and often necessary among independent musicians in recent years. The ex-Nashvillian’s extensive song catalog has been mined for covers by the likes of Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Ray Charles, B. B. King, Alison Krauss, Martina McBride, Jonathan Edwards and Kathy Mattea among others.
The Philanthropic angle came to Bickhardt when he was pondering how to make crowd funding more relevant to his fans and potential pledgers who wanted to see change in the world. “It seemed to me that I could do the typical ideas of Signed CD's, house concerts, and other donation perks plus add a humanitarian aspect to each pledge level of my campaign.”
To reciprocate for each contribution made to his fund, Craig promises a commitment in return such as performing an act of kindness to a stranger, doing some volunteer work for a charity, providing blood for a sick and suffering child, or participating in the cleanup of a neighborhood, depending on the pledge amount. He adds, “This idea was really an off-shoot of the charity fund-raising that I already do as part of my annual concert performing. I find it very rewarding, a way of paying it back and paying it forward.”
Perks are also included at each level such as handwritten lyrics, and the donator’s name in the CD’s liner notes.
