Creator of ABC's Whodunnit, Anthony Zuiker, Reveals He Didn't Know Who the Killer Was for Several Episodes in an Interview on AfterBuzz TV
Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) August 05, 2013 -- Creator of ABC's Whodunnit, Anthony Zuiker, made an appearance on AfterBuzz TV's Whodunnit aftershow last week. In his appearance, Zuiker talks about how he didn't know the identity of 'the killer' until episode eight. Zuiker also discusses how he and the writers come up with the murder stories and how they cast 'the killer.'
On Whodunnit:
“I feel great, I've been telling everybody this is like the Cris Abrego and Anthony Zuiker masterpiece. You know, we debuted almost five weeks ago. Some people got it, some people didn't but I gotta tell you, I sit in the cutting room every single [episode] and I'm like this show is just so good it just gets better and better and better. Tonight was a really fun double murder.” Anthony says, “Don't forget I'm writing these [murder stories] before we are actually shooting, so I don't know how smart or savvy the contestants are gonna be at this point. We knew that we had to get more and more difficult.”
Anthony says, “Origination from this particular murder weapon was from Trey Callaway, one of the writers from CSI: NY. He's on staff, he read somewhere that in Africa, they do this kind of thing where they take two nails and put snake poison and whap you and then you are dead in the desert and when they find you people think that you got bit by a snake, but it's actually murder. I'm like, 'Oh, we are using that one!'”
On how they cast 'the killer':
Anthony says, “We asked the final 13 or 14 [contestants], 'Hey, would you want to be our killer?' And there's a guaranteed money prize for being the killer.”
On not knowing who the killer is, despite being the creator of the show:
Anthony says, “ I had no idea who the killer was for the first eight episodes...I'm on the set with these people like every single day and I'm watching closely. I had no idea.”
On next season:
“Next year, I want to have a big boa constrictor swallow somebody,” says Anthony.
