CrossFit WOD for Juan Jr. Fundraiser Dec 7, 2013
Frisco, TX (PRWEB) September 23, 2013 -- At 2 months old, Juan Jr. was diagnosed with the rare liver disease, Biliary Atresia. Doctors and specialists performed a major surgery, known as a Kasai procedure. However, it is not a long-term solution, and Juan Jr. will be in need of a liver transplant.
The fundraising event will be held on December 7, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM (CST). It will take place in Frisco Square, downtown Frisco, Texas, in the east parking lot near Jakes. The benefit will be coordinated with over 30 CrossFit Boxes across the US, nationwide, whose members will be having the same fundraiser WOD that day in honor of Juan Jr. The goal is to help raise funds for Juan Jr.’s transplant procedure, with the help of COTA, and to continue raising awareness for early signs & detection of Biliary Atresia. Donations can be made online at http://www.JuanJrsArmy.org.
“We’ve had such a great response on Facebook for the event we created for Juan Jr.’s WOD fundraiser (see https://www.facebook.com/#!/events/617523904937190/). The support from the CrossFit community locally, as well as nationally, and from my partners, coaches and Black Iron CrossFit members has been unbelievable. Words cannot express the gratitude my wife Vanessa and I have. This has been a long and stressful journey for our little guy, but we have been able to get through it with the incredible help and support of the CrossFit community, our family and friends!” said Juan Carroll, “At the box, we have a saying, ‘TRAIN WITH A PURPOSE’. On December 7, we’ll have a heck of a PURPOSE for everyone to work out for; you don’t have to be a CrossFitter to show up and participate.”
