Crowdfunding Weekend comes to Boston on Saturday, October 19th
Somerville, MA (PRWEB) October 18, 2013 -- The Grommet, a product launch platform for unique and undiscovered products, is hosting the first Boston Crowdfunding Weekend on Saturday, October 19th. This collaboration between The Grommet and Crowdfunding Weekend will guide attendees on how to plan, create, and launch a successful crowdfunding campaign in just one day, or 14 jam packed hours. The day long workshop will be lead by Daniel Falabella and Jeff Shwarting, adjunct faculty at Brigham Young University and creators of the first university-level crowdfunding course. After presenting their products and forming teams, attendees will work with the crowdfunding experts to produce photo and video content, decide on pricing and marketing, and at the end of the night, launch their campaign.
While access to capital is often a barrier for product creators, crowdfunding is a popular and effective way to get a product off the ground and into production. Several products available on The Grommet such as Cuppow, Sushi Quik and Holdster USA were launched after they completed a successful crowdfunding campaign. The Grommet was able to pick up where crowdfunding left off and provide the audience and amplification needed for them to be successful in the long-term.
“It’s an honor for The Grommet to host Crowdfunding Weekend. This may be a first step toward entrepreneurship for many attendees and we’re proud to support that in our local community” says Co-Founder and Chief Discovery Office at The Grommet, Joanne Domeniconi.
Crowdfunding Weekend gives attendees the opportunity to network with other entrepreneurs, learn how to launch a successful campaign, and take their first steps towards entrepreneurship. The event begins at 8 a.m. at The Grommet offices in Somerville, MA. All information and registration information can be found here.

About Crowdfunding Weekend:
Crowdfunding Weekend is an event designed to help participants launch crowdfunding (i.e. Kickstarter) projects over the course of an action-packed day. The event is run by Daniel Falabella and Jeff Schwarting, adjunct faculty at BYU and creators of the first crowdfunding class taught in a higher-education business school, which raised $46,883 its first semester and has since been adopted by multiple universities. Due to the success of the class, Daniel and Jeff have condensed their curriculum into Crowdfunding Weekend, which is open to the public. After presenting products and forming teams, participants are guided through the creation of a crowdfunding campaign, working on videos, pictures, product pricing, marketing plans, etc.
