Crowley Honored with Platinum-Level “Healthiest Companies Award” from the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council
Jacksonville, Fla (PRWEB) July 21, 2015 -- Jacksonville-based [Crowley Maritime Corp. has been honored once again as one of the healthiest companies in the region by the First Coast Worksite Wellness Council (FCWWC). The company was selected for the 2015 Healthiest Companies Award in the platinum category for its demonstrated commitment to employee health and wellbeing through the implementation of comprehensive worksite health-promotion strategies. The FCWWC is an organization that has a mission of improving the health of the First Coast community by sharing resources and providing guidance to its member companies.
The platinum award was presented to Crowley’s Angela Urso, program coordinator, corporate wellness, during the seventh-annual FCWWC First Coast Worksite Wellness Conference. This is the sixth consecutive year that Crowley has been honored by the FCWWC with Healthiest Companies Awards, but its first platinum level honor, as previous years’ awards were in the silver and gold categories.
“Crowley is honored for the community recognition of our dedicated focus on corporate wellness,” said Urso. “This year’s platinum award signals continued recognition of our ever-growing focus on programs and initiatives to make and keep our employees healthy at home and in the workplace. We believe that healthy employees are happy, more productive employees.”
Crowley has a dedicated website that serves as the hub to promote company-wide wellness programs, such as health and nutritional challenges designed to help improve employee health. The website also offers a health library, motivational e-cards and a monthly, wellness-focused newsletter. Each year Crowley provides on-site health evaluations and risk assessments and flu shots to its employees, in addition to offering health coaching programs, weight management and gym reimbursement programs.
About FCWWC
The FCWWC was established in 2008 as a community workgroup lead by a partnership between the Florida Department of Health in Duval County and the City of Jacksonville Mayor's Council on Fitness and Wellbeing. This group was charged with impacting community health through the business community and to create a platform for local businesses to be recognized for excellence in worksite wellness. In 2009, the group held its first local worksite wellness conference and formalized the partnership into a fully functional 501(c)3 non-profit organization.
