CRT to Exclusively Produce and Sell C-Bar® Rebar (FRP) in North America
Madison, Wisconsin (PRWEB) January 14, 2016 -- Composite Rebar Technologies (CRT), the leading manufacturer of Long Life™ dowel bars, today announced an exclusive license agreement with Marshall Composite Technologies to produce and sell C-Bar® fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) rebar in North America.
FRP rebar does not corrode and, therefore, provides substantial benefits for infrastructure applications where concrete will be affected by the corrosion of steel reinforcement. The use of FRP rebar can extend the service life of concrete infrastructure by at least 50% and dramatically lower life-cycle costs, including financial, user, and environmental costs.
“C-Bar is a world-class product and our technology produces the best performing bent bars in the industry. We hand-picked CRT because of their strong industry knowledge and proven success in the market,” noted Cam Crawford, General Manager of Marshall Composite Technologies.
“Our vision is ‘Building A Stronger America’ by developing infrastructure reinforcement that will not corrode.” said Robert Gibson, Chairman and President of CRT. “The addition of C-Bar significantly broadens our product portfolio and enables us to address pent-up customer needs in multiple industry applications. CRT remains committed to innovation and will be launching additional products later in 2016. The U.S. is now utilizing better materials to substantially extend service life at lower costs for the benefit of all users, thereby improving the status of our nation’s infrastructure.”
The Federal Highway Administration has increasingly strengthened their recommendation of a 75-year design life for bridges and a 60-year design life for interstate highways. These criteria eliminate the use of epoxy-coated steel rebar in many areas of the country. The industry is now turning to more effective options such as FRP rebar to eliminate corrosion.
Marshall’s mission is to license and build manufacturing facilities throughout the world. CRT will initially focus its sales efforts on bridge, parking deck, and concrete highway applications.
