CSU-Global Working with the American Legion on Credentialing for U.S. Military Servicemembers
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) February 16, 2015 -- Colorado State University-Global Campus (CSUGlobal.edu) is proud to participate in the American Legion’s National Credentialing Summit in Washington, D.C. on February 17th-18th, 2015. CSU-Global’s president will provide the introduction to the U.S. Department of Labor Secretary Tom Perez, and the major topics of discussion will be licensing, credentialing and certification of our nation’s servicemembers.
Participants will be examining the best practices for recognizing the military training and experience through academic credit as well as for veterans seeking jobs in the private sector. The event is invitation-only and will bring together more than 200 key executives and lawmakers from across the country.
“We are especially pleased that Colorado State University-Global Campus is one of the sponsors for our summit,” said Joe Sharpe, director of The American Legion’s Veterans Employment and Education Division. “Their work in competency-based higher education provides the opportunity for many veterans to acquire credentials in the field of education.”
CSU-Global prides itself on being a military friendly college for veterans and active-duty servicemembers. The online institution will accept up to 90 total credits in transfer, including up to 60 from non-traditional sources of credit, such as military training and experience, into its online bachelor’s degree completion programs. It was named a Top School by Military Advanced Education Magazine earlier this year due to its military culture, financing benefits, flexibility, and online support services.
“Our university continually works to ensure we are providing the support and services that our veterans and servicemembers need to successfully complete their degrees, prepare for industry certification exams, and be properly equipped for careers after their service to our country,” said Colorado State University-Global Campus President Dr. Becky Takeda-Tinker. “We are proud to work so closely with the American Legion in their outstanding efforts to ensure our veterans have superior educational and career access after their terms of service.”
