CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center “Extreme Weight Loss” Video Blog: Accountability Leads to a Happily Ever After Transformation for Groom Bryce and Bride Amber
(PRWEB) July 08, 2015 -- In this final Love Can’t Weight edition of “Extreme Weight Loss” Bryce and Amber know the joy of successfully transforming together and then completing their journeys with a walk down the aisle. In her weekly video blog the show’s medical director, Holly Wyatt, MD, points to accountability as a main contributor to their happy ending.
Every episode of the hit ABC series “Extreme Weight Loss” Season 5 begins at the University of Colorado Anschutz Health and Wellness Center at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colo. In addition to being medical director for the TV show, Wyatt is associate director of the center and is affectionately known as “Dr. Holly” to her patients and the show’s cast members.
For three weeks this summer, “Extreme Weight Loss” Season 5 offered a new twist on the series with three special companion piece editions -- "Love Can't Weight" -- in which obese couples get in shape, both physically and emotionally, for each of their weddings. Like the cast members on “Extreme Weight Loss”, the couples spend the first part of their transformation journey at the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center getting guidance from Dr. Holly.
After watching the show each week Dr. Holly records a video blog about the episode offering fans her insight plus advice on how to begin, or continue, their own weight loss transformation journeys.
In this episode, Bryce and Amber worked together to put their days of bad eating habits behind them. Until now, overeating had always been the couple’s response to stressful situations.
Watching the couple’s efforts, Dr. Holly was inspired by Bryce and Amber’s happy ending and by seeing them start their new chapter by choosing to go down a healthy pathway. She was also reminded of the importance accountability plays in successful transformations.
Dr. Holly says it’s much too hard and nearly impossible to complete a transformation on your own and recommends identifying an accountability partner or a group early in the process to make this time different and keep you on track. She describes these people to her clients at the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center as “super friends”. They are the ones who go beyond just being supportive and will lovingly hold your feet to the fire.
Watch Dr. Holly as she explains the power and importance of a “super friend”.
Dr. Holly’s advice:
• Accept the fact that you will need help completing your transformation, that being held accountable by someone else is key
• Choose a super friend who will tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear
• Be prepared to listen
• Sometimes a super friend is actually a group and I welcome you to join the group on my Facebook page
Dr. Holly’s participation in the TV show inspired her to create the CU Anschutz Health and Wellness Center’s first destination weight loss program. The weeklong Extreme Weight Loss: Destination Boot Camp is designed to provide participants with the tools they need to complete their own successful weight loss transformations— without the TV cameras! Limited space is available in upcoming boot camps and weight loss seekers are encouraged to learn more and register now.
