Miami, Florida (PRWEB) December 11, 2015 -- Culture Shock Miami announced that the $5 ticket program for 13 to 22 year olds, will present Che Malambo, the 14-member company from Argentina, comprised of male dancers in the fiery Malambo cultural traditions of the South American cowboy or gaucho. TWO SHOWS AT SOUTH MIAMI-DADE CULTURAL ARTS CENTER CANCELLED

The show replaces the popular dance program, BLAZE, the Show due to the cancellation of its tour. The program change follows another cancellation at South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, STREB Extreme Action Company: Forces, which was to have two performances on January 30 and 31, 2016. The Center’s management explained that the cancellation of STREB, which was to be a co-production with Culture Shock Miami, was due to unforseen circumstances.

Ticket holders who purchased tickets to any of the cancelled performances through Culture Shock Miami will receive automatic refunds and will be notified by email. Those ticket holders who bought tickets directly from South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center will be contacted by a representative of its Box Office offering two options: 1) The purchaser may apply the amount of the ticket purchase towards another show currently on sale, or 2) the purchaser may request a box office credit for future shows to be announced. Ticket holders with questions for Culture Shock Miami should call (305) 375-1949 and for South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, call 786-573-5300 during regular business hours.

CHE MALAMBO INTRODUCES UNIQUE TRADITIONAL DANCE STYLES OF THE LATIN COWBOY

The Argentine based company, Che Malmabo, performs through precise footwork and rhythmic stomping, drumming of the bombos, and singing and whirling boleadoras (lassos with stones on the end). Presenting powerful percussive dance and music, the company’s work celebrates Malambo, the unique South American cowboy tradition of the gaucho. This all-male company of 14 is directed by French choreographer and former ballet dancer, Gilles Brinas.

Brinas has been fascinated and also troubled by the Malambo. He flew to Buenos Aires in search of this dance so typical of the Pampa region of Argentina. Brinas was drawn to the particular rhythms, the haunting characters, and the lonely expressions of the gaucho who spends his life on horseback. The Malambo is filled with deeply personal solo reflecting this rich tradition. Brinas was inspired by the talented artists he found in Buenos Aires and was moved to create the company Che Malambo from the best Malambo dancers in the area.
After premiering in Paris in 2007 and sporadically touring around the world, Che Malambo embarked on a brief, but highly successfully, U.S. tour in 2013. In 2015 they came back for a limited engagement performing in the opening night of New York City Center’s annually sold-out series, Fall for Dance. Now they’re back for a full U.S. tour to introduce audiences of all ages, from all over America, to their version of the thrilling Argentine Malambo. $5 tickets are available to 13-22 year olds and one accompanying guest each, exclusively through CultureShockMiami.com.

Full price tickets are $15 to $35 and $10 for Youth Tickets for 12 years old and under. These tickets are available online at SMDCAC.org or through the SMDCAC box office by calling 786-573-5300. $5 Culture Shock Miami tickets are not sold through the SMDCAC Box Office or through SMDCAC.org. Culture Shock Miami ticket sales for this performance end on Friday, February 5, 2016 at 11:59 PM. No $5 tickets are available through the SMDCAC box office.

The program is designed to introduce this next generation of audience members to live arts and cultural experiences at the age when they are beginning to make their own decisions about entertainment options. Based on research that shows most people begin their appreciation for the arts at a young age, CultureShockMiami.com is founded on the premise that when kids make the arts a regular entertainment choice, they are more likely to become the full-price ticket buyers and subscribers of the future.

CultureShockMiami.com’s Program Partners include African Heritage Cultural Arts Center, Miami-Dade County Auditorium, South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, TicketWeb.com, the Miami-Dade County Public School System, local arts organizations, and area colleges and universities.
