CURE Media Group and Cancer Hope Network Align to Connect Cancer Patients with Survivors in Advocacy Spotlight Partnership Program
PLAINSBORO, N.J. (PRWEB) July 15, 2015 -- CURE Media Group, the nation’s leading digital and print media enterprise focused on cancer patients, today welcomes Cancer Hope Network, a patient advocacy group that links patients with survivors, to the CURE Advocacy Spotlight Partnership program. They have agreed to work together to publicize the Network’s efforts to provide free and confidential one-on-one emotional support to cancer patients, their caregivers and family members.
“Cancer Hope Network matches cancer patients or family members with trained volunteer cancer survivors who have themselves undergone and recovered from similar cancer experiences,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president of Intellisphere Oncology and Healthcare Specialty Group, part of the Plainsboro, N.J.-based Michael J. Hennessy Associates, Inc. (MJH) family of businesses. “Through CURE® magazine, the largest consumer publication in the U.S. focused entirely on cancer, and our other communications services, we will bring attention to Cancer Hope Network’s important efforts to address cancer patients’ concerns and questions.”
“Receiving a cancer diagnosis can be one of life’s most terrifying experiences,” said Wanda Diak, CHN’s executive director and a cancer survivor herself. “We match patients and their caregivers with a volunteer whose experience mirrors their own – including stage of cancer, treatment protocols or participation in a clinical trial. Our Support Volunteers have been cancer free or on maintenance treatments for at least one year, so it’s an opportunity to speak to someone who has been through the same fight and won.”
The Chester, N.J.-based Cancer Hope Network provides customized support to patients and caregivers throughout the nation. The connection begins when a patient calls the Network’s toll-free number (800-552-4366) or visits http://www.cancerhopenetwork.org and shares basic information, including type of cancer, stage, treatment and side effects as well as psychosocial information. The patient's specific immediate needs are identified, and they are matched with a Support Volunteer.
“Every cancer patient should know they are a phone call away from free one-on-one support. Cancer Hope Network is delighted to partner with CURE Media Group to share information and a message of hope with patients across the nation,” Diak said.
