Current Z90FM Hotshot Champion, Biggie Babylon, Releases "Vote Yes On C" Rap Song
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) November 01, 2016 -- San Diego native and avid Chargers fan, Alvin Shamoun aka Biggie Babylon, releases “Vote Yes On C” hip hop/rap song on YouTube. He decided to cancel his season tickets this year and instead used the money to produce a song urging people to vote yes on Measure C.
Shamoun understands the importance of this November’s election but finds himself in a peculiar situation. As a resident of Spring Valley, he will not be able to vote on Measure C because it is reserved for San Diego city residents. Not being able to vote himself, Shamoun knew he had to find a way to get the information out about Measure C.
“I researched Measure C and got a good understanding of the facts, but nobody I was talking to knew how Measure C really worked. They heard the word tax and said no. I had to explain how the tax was essentially a tourist tax and that we would never pay a dime out of our pockets towards the stadium. With the facts, most people changed their potential vote to yes,” stated Shamoun. That’s when he got creative and decided to forgo his season tickets this year, instead using the money allocated for those tickets to hire hit producer Josh Franks. Together they produced an original track called “Vote Yes On C.”
The track features an infectious beat and catchy lyrics that educate, stimulate, and make San Diegans proud of their city. He also put together a music video featuring the song which has gone viral on social media since getting played on the radio by Scott Kaplan and Billy Ray Smith on The Mighty 1090 in San Diego in October.
Recording artist Biggie Babylon is no stranger to the radio in San Diego. He is two time and current defending Z90 FM radio “Hotshot” contestant winner and is using his notoriety to help get this stadium built. Babylon says, “I support measure C because it makes sense for San Diego. I remember going to my first game with my dad as a young boy. I cannot imagine not being able to take my future children to NFL games in San Diego. We have a chance to make the tourists pay for this facility with Measure C. They are coming anyways, so if we don’t charge a little tax we are nincompoops. If I can get one person who is on the fence to end up voting yes on C, then it will be worth it.”
The San Diego Chargers have been playing in Qualcomm Stadium since 1967. Back then, it was brand new Jack Murphy Stadium. Almost 60 years later, the fans who pay hundreds to thousands of dollars a game are visiting a dilapidated stadium. "The fact is Qualcomm Stadium has been called “a dump” by residents of San Diego in USA Today in an October 2015 article." For the past 14 years the Chargers have been asking the city for a new stadium. With no approved stadium deal, the Spanos family threatened to move the team to Los Angeles. According to NFL.com, they (Chargers) have been approved by NFL ownership to join the Rams in a new stadium being built in Inglewood. However, the Chargers were allowed to stay in San Diego for another year with the task of getting a new stadium deal done.
