Curtains Made Simple Introduce Countryside Charm with Elanbach’s Vintage Floral Collection

Elanbach’s collections bring a nostalgic element to the Curtains Made Simple fold with their vintage florals and candy pastel designs – all of which can be adapted into made to measure eyelet curtains, pinch pleat curtains, Roman blinds, valances, pelmets and other forms of drapes as well as soft textiles such as cushions, beanbags, quilts and tablecloths.
One of the more popular Elanbach collections is the beautiful Vintage Floral prints. Designed by company founder Sir Bernard Ashley’s step daughter Emma Shuckburgh (Sir Ashley was married to the late household designer Laura Ashley), it is inspired by a weekend in the Sussex countryside where Emma encountered a manor house with roses on the door, log fires and faded chintz sofas. Her intention with the collection, she said was to evoke “the relaxed nostalgic feel of a rural idyll.”
The collection, which is reminiscent of Laura Ashley designs, involves peonies in pink pastels (Elsted) and rambling roses (Petworth) as well as the striking Treyford where birds and florals sit against a charcoal backdrop. Despite having set colour schemes Elanbach also print to order thanks to digital technology which allows them to match a particular shade to co-ordinate with other items in the home.
A spokesman for Curtains Made Simple said: “Vintage Floral is certainly one of the key collections from this design house which tends to emphasise a countryside and nostalgic feel in its designs as well as evoking a simplistic lifestyle of a Britain of yesteryear.
“We’re very pleased to have Elanbach on board with us and are confident they are going to prove to be one of our very best sellers.”
As well as the ‘chintzy’ nature of their designs, Elanbach have also ventured into animal print territory with their fun and colourful contemporary look at the classic zebra and leopard patterns.
Other designs include Indienne fabric collection which was inspired by the elaborate clothing and headwear of women in India’s Rajasthan, Kalanga fabric collection – two paisley print patterns creating an eclectic feel and Spa Stripes which is inspired by European spa towns.
Formerly based at the Edwardian five star hotel Llangoed Hall which is tucked into the Welsh mountains near Brecon in Wales, and where the fabrics can still be seen in the property’s drawing rooms and bedrooms, Elanbach have since moved to Staffordshire where it is now under the very new ownership of fabric printers Dominic Morgan.
All Elanbach designs are printed on natural fabrics such as bleached linen, linen, cotton satin or fine cotton while the printing process itself boasts green credentials.
