Cuscal Goes Live with the Concourse Financial Software Suite to Support Launch of Australia’s New Payments Platform (NPP)

(BHMI), the creator of the Concourse Financial Software Suite™, is proud to announce that Cuscal Limited has gone live with multiple modules of the Concourse Financial Software Suite™ to perform back office processing for transactions going through Australia’s New Payments Platform (NPP).
Cuscal is Australia’s leading independent provider of payment solutions, including card and acquiring products, mobile payments, fraud prevention, EFT switching, and direct entry. It acquires and switches 35% of Australia’s ATM transactions, processes 14% of Australia’s EFT transactions, and has over 7.5 million cards under its management.
For more than 40 years, Cuscal has been working alongside more than 70 financial institutions to help them adapt to the changing payments landscape. As a result, Cuscal has been one of the primary architects of the New Payments Platform (NPP), which is Australia’s real-time payments system. NPP was publicly launched on February 13, 2018. On day one of the launch, more than 60 banks, credit unions, and building societies were able to receive real-time payments and over 40 of these are connecting via Cuscal, which is greater than 50% of the total number of participants.
This is one of the most important milestones in Australia’s electronic payments history. Prior to NPP, money moved slowly between different financial institutions because payments were collected throughout a business day into batches and then distributed at selected times during the day. As a result, money moved slowly during business hours and often did not move at all after hours and on weekends. The NPP changes all of this because it allows money to move between different financial institutions in real-time. Money moves between NPP connected accounts in seconds, any time of the day or night.
To support the back office processing for the NPP, Cuscal selected and implemented the following modules of the Concourse Financial Software Suite:

Concourse – Disputes™
Concourse is continuously receiving NPP transaction data and performing Cuscal’s settlement and reporting. Concourse is also supporting all of Cuscal’s transaction investigation and dispute processing requirements related to NPP.
