Custom Exhibit Booth Company, Gilbert, Discusses Six Trade Show Attire Do's and Don'ts
NEW YORK, April 25, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Custom exhibit company, Gilbert, helps businesses prepare for trade shows by explaining how to dress for success at each event.
Dressing for trade shows is all about striking a balance between formality and approachability. The following six best practices should be implemented when preparing for every trade show:
Do's
- Dress Professionally. Trade shows follow the same fashion rules that other professional events follow. Exhibitors should dress professionally. This means covering face and neck tattoos and removing piercings. Jewelry is acceptable but should not be worn in excess.
- Make Sure Your Attire is Consistent with Your Messaging. Staff attire will affect how your company is perceived, so make sure it complements and reinforces your brand in a positive way. You can do this by requiring staff to dress professionally and matching staff attire to your booth design and messaging. For example, if your booth design and graphics are bright and bold, staff could wear a bright colored polo with your slogan on the back and a name tag on the front.
- Match the Tone of Your Event. Some trade shows are more formal than others. Healthcare trade shows, for instance, are more formal than technology trade shows. If the trade show you plan to attend isn't formal, it's okay to wear less formal attire. Generally, staff attire should match the tone of the event—formal trade shows require formal attire; less formal trade shows require less formal attire.
- Stand Out from the Crowd. You want to engage as many attendees as possible as they pass your booth. So, make sure attendees can decipher your staff from members of the audience. The easier it is for attendees to find staff, the more likely they are to engage with them at your booth. Each outfit should have at least one item that identifies staff as part of your company (e.g. name tag, logo, company jacket, etc.).
Don'ts
- Don't Wear Brand New Shoes. Staff will be standing for most of the day, so they will want to avoid wearing new shoes. Trade shows aren't the place to break in a new pair of heels or loafers.
- Don't Intimidate Attendees with Outfits That are Too Formal and Stiff. Staff should dress professionally but look approachable. Staff can add pops of color to formal outfits to increase their approachability. When attendees perceive staff to be friendly and sociable, they engage.
