Washington University in St. Louis sees these developments as an opportunity to offer a new graduate degree program starting in the fall of 2013 and focusing on cyber security management.
Jarrett Kolthoff, President/CEO of SpearTip, a cyber-counterintelligence provider, will join their faculty and offer new coursework titled “Cyber Counterespionage – Case Study Analysis.” This degree program resides in the School of Engineering & Applied Science in collaboration with the Olin Business School.
Students will study the core tenets of Cyber Counterintelligence, focusing on the combination of two major disciplines: Technology and Human Intelligence (HUMINT). The course will initially concentrate on conducting counterintelligence activities, such as counterespionage operations from a HUMINT perspective.
The intent is to educate students on how cyber security is a growing concern for many organizations and what can be done proactively to mitigate the associated risks. Although Washington University is the first in the state to offer such a program at the graduate level, other universities are offering this type of course in their undergraduate curriculum.
