Cycling.co.uk launches as latest UK cycling news, review and bike shop site
(PRWEB UK) 21 September 2013 -- The site is the latest in the series of site launches from DSG but this one is different in that it’s a launch rather than re-launch. In common with many of the other new sites, cycling.co.uk is built on ultra modern web frameworks making it fast, rich and responsive to a variety of devices. Whilst DSG already cover cycling within sport.co.uk, the new site is obviously a dedicated site for cycling fans as well as those interested in the leisure aspect.
The site has been launched to coincide with the Tour of Britain and on the back of a huge groundswell of interest in Cycling for leisure, sport and as an increasing popular means for urban commuting and travelling in general. As an industry it has become a multi-billion pound interest and despite some bad press with doping amongst athletes it is clear the sport is growing and cleaning up its act. Chris Froome famously said that his win in the Tour de France would “Stand the test of time.”
Head of Operations at DSG, Matthew Tait had this to say: “Cycling.co.uk is our first completely new site in the Digital Sports Group portfolio in some time and we are really excited to be entering the cycling arena with a dedicated cycling site packed with news, stats, cycling profiles for cyclists and teams, bike reviews, video, and a bit of a bike shop in the near future. It’s a site we will look to grow with the audience and we think there is now real and growing demand for news on the likes of Sir Bradley Wiggins, Chris Froome and Mark Cavendish.”
Simon Boynton, Managing Director of DSG believes that cycling.co.uk will quickly become a leading site for cyclists in the UK. “DSG has a great track record for quickly finding audiences for its websites and the most important aspect that influences this success is listening to the fans and providing them with what they need, when they need it and tailored to the device they use.”
Digital Sports Group are the official partners of the PFA and publish sites such as football.co.uk, sport.co.uk and the Footymad network.
