Cynthia Tee Joins Ada Developers Academy as Executive Director
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 15, 2015 -- Ada Developers Academy (“Ada”), a Seattle-based not-for-profit program offering tuition-free software development training to women, today announced the appointment of ex-Microsoft technology veteran Cynthia Tee as its new Executive Director.
"I have always had a passion for championing women in the technology industry,” Tee said. “Ada Developer's Academy has established a solid track record for launching women into successful technical careers. I am extremely excited to be a part of it.”
As Executive Director, Cynthia will be responsible expanding Ada’s programs, connecting with more women from diverse backgrounds and preparing them for a wider range of technical careers.
Cynthia Tee joins Ada from Microsoft where she spent close to 20 years building and managing highly effective teams in product management, project management and user experience design. Her most recent position was Partner Group Program Manager for the Operating Systems Services team. She also managed teams for the Windows App Store, Windows 7 Shell User Experience, and Windows 7 Vista Client. Tee earned her Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
"Cynthia is an established and well-respected leader with boots on the ground experience mentoring technical women throughout her career. We're over the moon to have her expertise guiding Ada Developers Academy through the program's growth,” stated Elise Worthy, Ada’s Co-Founder and Technical Director.
Founded in late 2013, Ada has facilitated the placement of nearly 40 women in Puget Sound software companies. 100% of the program’s graduates are now employed as developers at leading technology companies. It recently spun out from its parent organization, the Technology Alliance. Since inception, Ada has been met with overwhelming support from the region’s tech companies, who provide monetary sponsorship, actively engage as mentors, and teach hands-on experience through internships. Sponsor companies herald the program for not only creating skilled programmers, but for also providing a novel and effective way to combat gender imbalance within the tech industry. Over a dozen Puget Sound technology companies, including Expedia, Zillow, Amazon, Redfin, and Nordstrom, are currently sponsoring Ada students.
