D2 Architecture Principal David Dillard to Speak at the 2013 LeadingAge Annual Meeting
Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 24, 2013 -- D2 Architecture, a Dallas-based firm committed to architecture for seniors, is presenting its innovative processes and work at the 2013 LeadingAge Annual Convention in Dallas. The convention draws national participation and takes place from Oct. 27-30, 2013 connecting thousands of professionals who specializes in various services for the aging. D2 Principal David Dillard will be speaking with Dr. Roger Landry, President of Masterpiece Living, about “Wellness Environments for Successful Living.” Dr. Landry will discuss how elders can live healthy longer, with Dillard discussing the physical aspects of how design and architecture can positively affect wellness in a variety of ways.
“We are excited to present our work with senior living in our hometown of Dallas at this year’s LeadingAge Convention,” said D2 President David Dillard. “I am honored to be paired with Roger Dr. Landry as we address this important topic from two completely different angles. The beauty of our preparation is that we keep discovering just how much we share philosophies, observations, and even solutions.”
Also at the LeadingAge Annual Meeting, D2 Architecture will present its unique Sleepover Project®. As part of the Project, D2 architects spend 24 hours in a senior living facility, with a set of physical limitations intended to simulate the disabilities of a normal resident at the community. The Project gives D2 staff a hands-on, real-life opportunity to learn ways to make the design of senior living facilities better and to journal their observations for future publication.
Following a recent Sleepover by D2 architect Keith Wilson at the CC Young community in Dallas, this video was produced with the help of Good Morning Texas’ Jane McGarry. The video –available on D2architecture.com– looks at how the Sleepover Project works and what the architects at D2 are experiencing during their overnight stays. D2 Architecture is planning another Sleepover in the Dallas, Texas area in November 2013.
“At D2 we think presenting the Sleepover Project video and allowing others to watch as D2 architects explore the possibilities of senior living architecture will facilitate greater discussion about the ways we can all improve the lives of seniors,” says Dillard.
D2 Architecture specializes in senior living facilities and they are committed to designing continuing care that works for all seniors and their caregivers. D2 Architecture has been designing senior living facilities for almost 20 years and is a recognized leader in the field.
