D.C. Housing Market a National Spotlight for Investment
Washington, D.C. (PRWEB) July 22, 2014 -- Downtown Washington, D.C. has remained a hot market for real estate despite stagnant market conditions in the surrounding suburbs and across much of the rest of the nation. In June 2014, D.C. experienced a 13 percent increase in dollar volume of sales and six percent increase in average price over June 2013.* This evergreen quality of the D.C. real estate market has led to an increase in interest from investors, foreign and otherwise, looking to buy properties in the area.
“Downtown Washington, D.C. is small, but powerful,” says Donna Evers, president and broker of Evers & Co. Real Estate, the largest independent, woman-owned real estate firm in metro Washington. “There is so much innovation, restoration and development occurring, on both a large and small scale, it’s no wonder foreign investors are beginning to see D.C. in the same vein as Miami and New York.”
Evers predicts the area will see a surge in foreign investment in the coming months as a result of D.C.’s resilient recovery after the recession.
D.C.’s continued strength in real estate is especially significant given the sluggish market in the surrounding suburban areas of Maryland and Virginia. There, low inventory and rising prices have created unusually unpredictable conditions for what was expected to be a stronger 2014 in the market.
