D&R International and HARDI Issue First Unitary HVAC Market Share Report
Silver Spring, MD (PRWEB) July 15, 2013 -- D&R International, Ltd. and Heating, Air-conditioning and Refrigeration Distributors International (HARDI) have launched the HARDI Unitary HVAC Market Share Report powered by D&R’s BETTER DATA®. Participating HARDI members and subscribers received the first quarterly report, which covers sales in the first quarter of 2013. The report includes analysis of aggregate sales of unitary products (air-conditioners, heat pumps, furnaces, and boilers) nationwide and by region, with breakdowns by efficiency level, equipment type (ducted versus ductless), fuel type, capacity, and refrigerant type.
The Market Share Report is based on analysis of data submitted voluntarily by HARDI members, who receive no financial compensation in exchange for their data. Each contributing distributor receives a report dissecting total activity in the regional markets it serves, as well as a detailed analysis of its performance in those regions. The initial analysis reflects sales data collected from more than 2,000 sales locations from across the country.
One surprising finding shows that efficiency of cooling equipment lags well behind that of heating equipment. The data indicate that 64% of cooling equipment is at 13 SEER and 85% is at or below 15 SEER. The current minimum standard is 13 SEER; ENERGY STAR® requires a minimum of 14 SEER.
“Clearly utilities, state energy offices, and others located in warmer climates will want to examine these data more closely if they want to reduce summer peak demand and energy use,” noted Toby Swope, D&R’s Manager of Data Analysis.
“Our members are pulling together to create powerful market insights with the help of D&R International,” said Talbot Gee, HARDI’s Executive Vice President and COO. “We’ve developed an incredibly easy process for distributors to report vast amounts of data that now produce tremendous visibility into the unitary market.”
D&R continues to add new participants, which HARDI and D&R hope will enable the report to more accurately reflect the state of the market and offer the ability to conduct more localized or specialized analyses.
The HARDI Unitary HVAC Market Share Report gives energy efficiency program planners, sponsors, evaluators, and utilities the information they need to determine which products to incentivize, learn where energy savings opportunities lie, and evaluate the effects of programs. Manufacturers, distributors, and industry analysts will be able to monitor market trends and spot new opportunities.
The HARDI Unitary HVAC Market Share Report is available as an annual subscription. Subscribers receive four quarterly reports, plus an annual report; they can enhance their subscriptions to include custom territories.
