Florham Park, NJ (PRWEB) December 17, 2013 -- Zoetis announced today the relaunch of D-Tec® CB, a rapid slide agglutination test for detection of canine brucellosis in dogs.
With its return, veterinarians will once again be able to confirm canine brucellosis negative status in approximately two minutes rather than send samples to a lab and wait two or three days for results.
Zoetis acquired the test in 2010 as part of its acquisition of Synbiotics Corporation and stopped selling the test while the manufacturing process underwent review and improvements.
“We are pleased to again provide this convenient, critical test to our customers,” said Constantina Poga, Senior Director, U.S. Diagnostics for Zoetis. ”The test is crucial for responsible canine reproduction.”
Brucella canis can cause severe reproductive disorders including infertility and miscarriages in dogs. Veterinary theriogenologists and the American Kennel Club recommend testing both male and female dogs prior to each breeding.
D-Tec CB is used to confirm the absence of antibodies to the B. canis bacterium and is a recommended test prior to each breeding. Additionally, a positive test result can be confirmed with 2-mercaptoethanol (2-ME), which is included with the test. Product shelf-life is 36 months from the date of manufacture.
