dōTERRA Welcomes Kirk Jowers to Its Executive Team
Pleasant Grove, Utah (PRWEB) July 06, 2015 -- dōTERRA, the leading global essential oils company, is pleased to announce the addition of Kirk Jowers to its executive management team. Most recently, Jowers held the position as Director of the Hinckley Institute at the University of Utah, a position he held for ten years.
After spending a decade building the institute, Jowers states that he was ready for a new challenge, and out of many potential offers, dōTERRA was the most exciting. Jowers, previously called the "most quoted man in Utah," is thrilled to join dōTERRA.
“Many people have asked why I would ever leave the Hinckley Institute and my Washington, DC law firm, Caplin & Drysdale. I loved every minute of my time in those capacities. Nevertheless, I left for what I have come to call the three P’s of dōTERRA: people, product, and purpose,” states Jowers. “The people at dōTERRA are extraordinary. I met with dōTERRA executives as a consultant with my law firm six months ago, with no expectations of joining dōTERRA. I was beyond impressed, however, with the executives and their vision for the company. dōTERRA's products have been life changing for my family. The purpose of dōTERRA is to empower the families who harvest the essential oils and the families who use them to improve their health and lifestyle."
Jowers also has an entrepreneurial spirit and was excited about the opportunity help to guide a new company and influence its direction and growth. “I had always dreamed of starting a company, but the truth is--at this stage in my career--I might not have dared to give up everything and mortgage my home like the founders of dōTERRA did seven years ago,” said Jowers. “They have a great and inspiring story. Nevertheless, jumping in at this moment is exciting because there is still so much growth ahead of us.”
Since announcing his departure from the Hinckley Institute, Jowers has been asked what products his family uses, “At my first meeting with the executives, they gave me the dōTERRA Family Physician Kit, a collection of ten essential oils. This gift provided an opportunity to personally experience the products.
“We knew about lavender from friends, so we started there, which we loved for sleeping,” said Jowers. “Each family member has their own diffuser and uses lavender and other essential oils for rest and decompressing after an intense day. Our family loves sports and immediately benefitted from using Deep Blue to soothe our sore muscles and achy joints. We also began using Peppermint to help stay alert and engaged. From there, we have continued to use more and more products—it has been a fun and deeply satisfying progression. We have a kitchen diffuser, and use lime, lemon, wild orange and grapefruit to make our home smell like a citrus orchard in Orlando.”
When asked what he wants to focus on first, Jowers answered, “Expanding dōTERRA's Co-impact Sourcing™. I had grown to love the international aspects of my job at the University of Utah and was interested in a position where I could continue making a difference for people all over the world. dōTERRA is responsibly sourcing products from 31 countries, while helping lift entire communities out of abject poverty." dōTERRA Co-Impact Sourcing is a responsible sourcing model developed by dōTERRA that helps ensure a long-term supply of CPTG Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils for the company, while helping strengthen economies in developing countries of its growers around the world.
“At the Hinckley Institute, we created programs in various parliaments, governments, and nonprofits in 61 countries, with the goal of empowering not only the U of U interns, but also the people being served by these students. Through dōTERRA’s Co-impact Sourcing, I saw tremendous corporate vision and responsibility with an opportunity for me to do what I love.”
“Through Co-Impact Sourcing, lives are changing,” states Jowers. “It is already an incredible model and I look forward to building on the great work already being done by dōTERRA. It can become the blueprint for countless other companies as a path out of poverty for the people of developing countries.”
"I am eager and honored to work with the dōTERRA Healing Hands Foundation. This nonprofit foundation is making a big difference. With help from dōTERRA independent distributors, aka “Wellness Advocates", and dōTERRA, the Healing Hands Foundation already has provided more than $700,000 in relief to Nepal. Being able to participate and help those who are most at risk is a humbling privilege."
“As VP of Corporate Relations, Jowers will oversee public, government and international relations,” states David Stirling, dōTERRA Founder and CEO. “He is well equipped for the position with over 20 years of international experience. He grew the Hinckley Institute from zero to 61 countries and was the chief strategist for the office of global engagement for the University of Utah. We can’t imagine an executive more prepared or qualified to assist us. We look forward to all the good he will do for our company, and for people in the developing countries we will be able to help.”
