Melville, NY (PRWEB) July 24, 2013 -- Da Vinci Robot Lawsuit News: Alonso Krangle LLP, a dedicated law firm focused on fighting for the rights of alleged victims of Da Vinci robot complications, is disturbed by Intuitive Surgical Inc.’s recent revelation that it had received a U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) warning letter following an inspection of its Sunnyvale, California headquarters. According to a July 23rd report from MassDevice.com, the manufacturer of the Da Vinci Robot Surgical System disclosed that the July 16th letter cited four “objectionable observations” that were spotted by FDA inspectors in the course of that visit. The FDA letter also noted that inspectors collected electronic samples of all advertising and promotional material for review, and that they intend to make a follow-up visit to further review Intuitive Surgical’s recall procedures.

The Da Vinci Robot Surgical System is a robotic surgery platform that is increasingly being used in a wide variety of minimally invasive surgeries, including hysterectomies, heart surgeries, prostate surgeries, and gall bladder and bariatric procedures. However, in recent months, a growing number of Da Vinci robot lawsuits and injury reports have raised questions about the safety and effectiveness of the Da Vinci Surgical System. According to an article published by Bloomberg.com on February 28th, for example, the FDA database has received hundreds of reports that detail possible Da Vinci surgery robot injuries, including some 70 deaths since 2009. In January, the FDA began surveying doctors to determine if the Da Vinci injury reports were a signal that there could be a problem with the technology.

On April 19th, Intuitive Surgical disclosed that it had been named in 26 Da Vinci surgery robot lawsuits, all of which allege negligence on the part of the company resulted in serious Da Vinci complications. And since May, the company has issued warnings regarding possible problems in instruments used with the machine, both of which had the potential to cause Da Vinci robot complications. On May 8th, Intuitive Surgical sent its customers an Urgent Device Notification regarding a risk of surgical burns posed by some EndoWrist Monopolar Curved Scissors. On July 12th, Bloomberg.com reported that a Class II recall had been issued for about 30 Da Vinci instruments that may not have been properly tested at the factory.
