Dallas, TX (PRWEB) November 21, 2015 -- For the third consecutive year, Dallas-based Park Cities Pet Sitter has conducted an annual pet supply drive as part of the National Association of Professional Pet Sitters’ Presents 4 Pets program. The Presents 4 Pets Campaign is a national pet supply collection drive held to benefit shelter and rescue animals. The products and monies collected as part of Presents 4 Pets are donated to help keep local shelter and rescue organizations operational, and animals comfortable and safe.
This year, Park Cities Pet Sitter’s recipient organization for the donated pet supplies is Angie’s Friends. Angie’s Friends was started by Angie Manriquez, who is affectionately known as the “Fairy Dogmother” of Dallas. Manriquez began her grass roots efforts by working daily in the most economically depressed neighborhoods of West Dallas, feeding and patting the heads of dogs who live primarily outdoors, on the end of chains. Over time, a volunteer organization formed to support Manriquez’ efforts, and her organization has grown to include the rescue and foster of many stray and/or mistreated dogs from the poorest communities.
As part of the Presents 4 Pets program, Park Cities Pet Sitter held a “Stuff the SUV” event at Pet Supplies Plus on Mockingbird Lane in October, and also reached out to their clients to encourage them to collect and donate product for this worthy cause. Items such as toys, treats, blankets, towels, crates, beds, and food were collected and will be donated to Angie’s Friends. Park Cities Pet Sitter collected approximately $3148 worth of monies and pet products for Angie’s Friends, including over 570 pounds of dry food.
“We extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who donated to this worthy cause and helped to make the ‘Presents 4 Pets’ campaign a success,” said Joette White, President of Park Cities Pet Sitter. “It is crucial that we remember animal shelters and rescue groups and the important role they serve in the community. Local government cannot tackle the problem of homeless and mistreated pets by themselves, they need partner organizations like Angie’s Friends to assist in community efforts. We know the Angie’s Friends team will put all of the donations to good use; they are excited to be getting such a big group of donations just before winter weather is upon us.”
