Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) May 21, 2014 -- On May 4th, 2014 a group of business leaders and company teams in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex took part in the Fit Company Challenge, a corporate fitness event hosted by the Fit Company Institute providing area companies and business leaders an opportunity to show the importance of living a fit and healthy lifestyle. Participants ranged in ages from professionals in their early 20’s to executives in their late 50’s and competed in categories for Fittest Executive, Entrepreneur, Doctor, Lawyer, and the coveted Fittest Company award.
“The Fit [Company] Challenge was a great experience in that it truly challenged me and reminded me that we need to cross train for optimal health and fitness,” said Carrie Camin, Assistant Vice President of Wellness at Methodist Health System and the Fittest Executive Top Finisher. “I am not only reinvigorating my own workouts, but sharing the message through our wellness program at Methodist Health System.”
Participants were selected through an invite-only process with certain criteria met for each leader and company to qualify to participate. In Dallas’s inaugural event, over 60 companies were represented at the challenge including company teams that competed for the title of Fittest Company in Dallas with General Datatech (GDT) finishing in first place. “Being able to participate in the Fit Company Challenge was a great opportunity to show how much we value fitness and well-being at GDT,” said Dan Engelhardt, GDT Team Captain and top finisher in the Fittest Professional category. “It was a great experience and everyone had a lot of fun. Count on us coming back next year to defend our 1st Place finish!”
With the help of over 30 volunteers assisting the contenders, participants sweated their way through three fitness courses challenging their strength, conditioning, power, agility, and ending with a test of endurance in order to show their colleagues that they practice what they preach. Participants used their involvement to bring out company team members, and family members to cheer them on and even run with them during their 5k which was the last course in the challenge.
The challenge was held at Flag Pole Hill Park in the White Rock Lake area, and a portion of the proceeds benefitted the Dallas Back on my feet chapter. Sponsors that were a huge reason for the success of the Dallas Fit Company Challenge included Sweat Dallas, New Wave Fitness, Park Cities XC Youth Running Club, Hyperwear and Ranch Road Creative Solutions.
