Daminion Server 4.5 Becomes Cross-Platform DAM Solution for SMB
Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 28, 2016 -- Daminion Software presents Daminion Server 4.5 – inexpensive digital asset management (DAM) software designed as a department solution for small-to-medium businesses and self-employed professionals.
The latest version provides access to a server-based media database through a lightweight web-client. A new File Watching Service feature drastically reduces Server PC load and immediately reflects changes made to outside files. The Daminion update keeps track of when and where assets are used and who is using them.
Thanks to the added lightweight web-client, digital assets located on a company’s server can be searched for, browsed, viewed and downloaded on mobiles, tablets and other devices with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.
The File Watching Service feature allows changes to files, such as the addition, removal or editing of tags, to be reflected in the digital asset catalog as soon as they are made, thus reducing the load on the server PC. The option of rescanning the entire folder structure at specified intervals is also available for files and folders on remote Linux and Mac OS-based locations like NAS/SAN devices.
The ability to keep track of when, where and by whom digital assets are being used – particularly photos and videos – helps to avoid license conflicts. The Usage Purpose tracking feature is built into the export, send by email and print options. The Advanced search function provides a field for searching by Usage Purpose.
Version 4.5 also comes with more than 20 new and improved features, including the ability to write XMP metadata into PDFs, to render thumbnails of vector image files (.eps, .ai, .wmf, .emf), and to assign user roles to certain catalogs that can be managed via web-browser without accessing the server PC.

Daminion 4.5 is compatible with and verified for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, 2003, 2008 and 2012 Server (R2) and Mac OS (via the Parallels Desktop).
