Dana K9’s Kristine Effaldana is Honored for Giving Back to the Community
West Haverstraw, NY (PRWEB) December 31, 2013 -- For her unwavering commitment to United Hospice of Rockland, the organization chose to honor Kristine Effaldana with the Dr. Mark E. Masch Award at their annual “Dancing with our Stars Gala.” The gala is a wonderful charity event that directly supports the United Hospice of Rockland, and is held to both raise money and to honor the two award winners. In addition to Kristine, Andy Kaye of Proforma Printing was honored for his community service and charity efforts. The night is one of fun and dancing, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, and live music.
As the main event, local dance professionals partner with Rockland’s “stars” to put on an unforgettable show. This past year, the “Dancing with our Stars Gala” raised over $125,000 for United Hospice of Rockland, and was attended by over 250 guests. The dancers do quite a bit of work to prepare for this night; the competition features professional judges who rate the dancers on their performances, resulting in some truly amazing dances and routines. If you’re in the mood to dance, laugh, and smile, and to help support the Rockland County community and United Hospice of Rockland, be sure to attend next year’s “Dancing with our Stars Gala!”
For years, Kristine has been supporting local business and charitable events in Rockland County. She is a platinum sponsor for the Rockland Fun Walk, and every winter she supports the Stony Point Seals as they plunge into the nearly frozen Hudson River, in order to raise money to offset the medical expenses of families with sick children.
While Kristine participates in a number of charitable causes, United Hospice of Rockland holds a special place in her heart. In memory of her dear friend, Joan Bender, who passed away on October 30 of 2009, Kristine has held and promoted several Hospice fundraisers. She has raised an average of over $10,000 each year for the past several years. These contributions go directly to the United Hospice of Rockland, an organization that went above and beyond to help Joan and the Bender family when they were in need. The Hospice fundraisers not only commemorate Joan, but it also provides laughter for the many people who attend.
The proceeds over each benefit go to United Hospice of Rockland. Additionally, the workers at the benefits are all volunteers; these kind-hearted individuals happily work hard to raise money for an amazing cause.
