Dana Point, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2014 -- Dr. Rand Spongberg, a Southern California native, who ventured to Australia to study veterinary medicine, has returned to his roots, joining the medical staff at Dana Niguel Veterinary Hospital, located in Dana Point at 34249 Pacific Coast Highway, Dana Point, CA 92629. Dana Niguel Veterinary Hospital has been owned and operated by Dr. Gary Johnson since 1989.

Dr. Spongberg emphasizes the importance of caring for the animals as well as their owners, “Since pets can’t communicate verbally, it’s essential to have a great relationship and work closely with their owners so the pets get the best possible care,” Spongberg said.
Dr. Spongberg grew up in Long Beach, California and attended University California Irvine, majoring in Social Science. His passion for animals led him to Australia where he studied Veterinary Science at Murdoch University in Perth, located in Western Australia. His studies focused on surgery, dermatology and internal medicine. During his studies, he had access to over 30 internationally-recognized research groups and centers, which made his time there valuable to work in the field of veterinary medicine. The University’s veterinary course was the first course in Australia to be awarded accreditation from the American Veterinary Medical Association AVMA allowing him to work in North America upon graduation.
“I had an excellent experience in Australia for the five years that I was there. Being close to the beach and my family is something that I’ve dreamed of and now working at Dana Niguel Veterinary Hospital, I feel that I’m truly home”, he said.
Dana Niguel Veterinary Hospital is a full service American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited animal hospital and will take both emergency cases as well as less urgent medical, surgical, and dental issues. They offer on-site and off-site laboratory services and advance treatments including Orthopedic Surgery, Stem Cell Treatment, Cancer Treatments and pain management among others. Adoptions are available as well as boarding for long term or overnight stays. Beyond first-rate pet care, Dana Niguel Veterinary Hospital provides a comfortable, kid-friendly and a calm environment so owners and pets alike can feel at home.
