Dance Academy USA Presents: Of Wishes and Dreams - A Winter Ballet
San Jose, CA (PRWEB) October 15, 2013 -- Dance Academy USA has announced that its annual Winter Ballet will be held on December 7th at the Santa Clara Convention Center Theater. “Of Wishes and Dreams,” a beautiful and captivating work of art, directed by Julie Ma and Jeremy Kovitch and choreographed specifically for DAU by the DAU staff, will feature more than 50 DAU student dancers, aged 7 to 16, plus one mom.
This year’s show will be presented in two Acts. The show begins in a Winter Wonderland, featuring children building snowmen and singing traditional Christmas carols before settling in for a reading of a Christmas story, followed by dancing, cheering for their Christmas gifts, and making wishes upon a sighting of a star in the night sky.
Thereafter, the audience will be whisked away to a magical Fairyland, a snow-covered pine forest filled with flowers, fairies, princesses and angels, where dancers from all around the world - from Russia, Spain and China, to France and the Arab world - will be celebrating the holidays in a feast of multicultural celebration.
The show will feature music from Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker,” traditional Christmas carols, as well as folk music from around the world, creating a truly international feel.

This year's production is based on the show’s successful debut last year, with some choreography adjustments made on most pieces, as well as changes in the first act to better fit the story with this year's cast in terms of age and ability. Principal teachers for the Winter Ballet are Julie Ma, Jeremy Kovitch and Beth Ann Namey. Mr. Kovitch is a Principal Dancer and Ms. Namey is a Soloist with the San Jose Ballet.

About the company: Dance Academy USA was founded in 1990 by James R. and Jane R. Carter. The business has since expanded in size, becoming the largest dance studio in Northern California with a staff with over 50 employees. Jane Carter is a graduate of San Jose State University with a degree in Human Performance and Fitness and a minor in Nutrition and Food Science. While at San Jose State University, Jane was a member of Spartan Spectrum Dance Team. While in college she was also selected as the Dole Corporation “Ambassador” which allowed her to teach dance in Japan.
