Silver was inspired to write by his first years as a police officer Drawing from his early experiences as a police officer, author Daniel B. “Cop” is the story of tattooed punk rocker-turned rookie San Francisco policeman, Dougie Cohen. On the job, Cohen experiences the horrors and frustrations as well as the stresses that tax his patience, health, sanity and relationship. The encounters change Cohen into someone else, someone he and his girlfriend must learn to live with.
