Danielle Ends Ice Skating Season with Success
Basingstoke (PRWEB UK) 3 July 2013 -- British figure skater Danielle Harrison has finished the 2012/13 ice skating season ranked no.1 in the NISA British Advanced Novice ranking for most points obtained in figure skating competitions.
Danni, now 13, started ‘SKATE UK’ skating lessons when she was 6½ and currently trains 6 days a week based at Planet Ice Basingstoke who are also one of her official sponsors, granting her free ice time each week to train. Managing Director of Planet Ice, Mr John Neville commented, “Here at Planet Ice we are always looking to support talented young people like Danni in their pursuit of success. We are extremely proud to have been part of Danni’s development from when she attended her first Learn to Skate course up to now, and are really excited to be part of her future as she prepares for the new season.”
She is coached by Debi and Simon Briggs and supported by Gary Peed, Peter Bækgaard, Andrew Smith and Lisa Beaumont. Simon Briggs, NISA Level 5 coach and one of the world's leading Technical Specialists, officiating in 2010 Olympic Games, 2009 World Championships and 2008 European Championships, added, "Danni is an extremely talented young athlete who is showing signs of progressing to the very highest levels. She is one of the most talented and committed skaters that I have seen in the UK for many years. The support from Planet Ice is a huge help and greatly appreciated by Danni, her family and the entire coaching team".
In 2012 Danni was selected to become an Olympic torch bearer in Andover. In the same year she also won Advanced Novice Ladies class at the Ice Challenge in Graz Austria and second place at the British Figure Skating Championships in the same class. Danni also competed during the skating season in the Junior class and ended the year in 6th place in the British Junior rankings.
