Darryl Worley Hosts A Night Under the Stars on the Eve of Tennessee River Run Main Concert
Savannah, Tennessee (PRWEB) September 09, 2016 -- Country artists Don Sampson, Brice Long and Leslie Satcher will join Darryl Worley for A Night Under the Stars at White Pillars (the home of Mayor and Mrs. Bob Shutt in Savannah) at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7. The evening event is part of the Tennessee River Run, which culminates with a headline concert featuring Chuck Wicks, Kellie Pickler, Randy Houser and Worley in downtown Savannah Saturday, Oct. 8.
During A Night Under the Stars, guests will enjoy an intimate performance as they listen to the stories behind the artists hit songs. Individual tickets for the event are $100. Sponsorship levels at $1,500 for a 10-seat table, which includes a meet-and-greet with the artists, and $900 for an eight-seat table. To sponsor or secure tickets, individuals may call 731-926-2667.
The artists performing at White Pillars have written several hits, including “Nothing on but the Radio,” recorded by Gary Allan and co-written by Long. The song reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. Sampson’s song “Waitin’ on a Woman” was performed by Brad Paisley. The song received the Nashville Songwriters Association International Song of the Year honor in 2009. Sampson has had several publishing deals and written numerous No. 1 singles, Allan's “Tough Little Boys,” Alan Jackson’s “Midnight in Montgomery” and Bryan White’s “Rebecca Lynn.” Sampson has won numerous ASCAP awards, seven NSAI awards and the TNN Music City News Songwriters Award.
Long has toured as an opening act for Eddie Rabbitt, who persuaded him to move to Nashville in 1993. Later he signed a songwriter’s contract with the publishing division of Reba McEntire’s Starstruck Entertainment Company. Randy Travis, Josh Turner and John Michael Montgomery have recorded some of his songs.
Satcher grew up singing in the churches and schools in Paris, Texas. After a trip to Nashville, where she recorded country standards at the Barbara Mandrell Museum, Satcher made the move to Music City. Satcher strengthened her writing skills and penned songs performed by Reba McEntire, Vince Gill and Willie Nelson. Currently Satcher is focusing on her second album, as well as continuing to write songs for other artists as a staff writer for Sony Tree ATV. She performs all over the United States, often appearing at benefits.
Known for his patriotism and support for U.S. troops, Worley has had nearly 20 hit singles and six albums. Among his best-known hits are “Awful, Beautiful Life,” “Have You Forgotten,” and “I Miss My Friend,” which came to him via a songwriter friend in Nashville. Worley’s latest release, “Rainmaker,” was recorded after he and his wife were in Fiji Feb. 20, 2016, when Cyclone Winston struck the island nation. Touched by the tragedy that took 44 lives and caused nearly $500 million of property damage, Worley has set aside proceeds from the sales of “Rainmaker” to benefit Cyclone Winston relief efforts.
Following the event at White Pillars, a 5K race will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, at Pickwick Landing State Park. Later that morning, a motorcycle ride will leave the state park at 10 a.m.; prizes will be awarded at the final stop at noon.
The headline concert with Chuck Wicks, Kellie Pickler, Randy Houser and Worley will begin Saturday afternoon, Oct. 8, in downtown Savannah. Other artists performing include James Robert Webb, Alyson Greene, the Marshall Lowry Band, the Bryan Moffitt Band and Dead Horse. Gates will open at noon, with vendors offering food and crafts for guests, and the concert will begin at 3 p.m. The $25 tickets (free admission for children 12 and younger) may be purchased online at http://tnriverrun.org, by phone at 866-484-3877 or 731-926-2667 and at several locations, including the Darryl Worley Foundation office, Tennessee River Museum, Savannah City Hall and most local banks.
Previous years of the Tennessee River Run have raised more than $1.6 million for the Darryl Worley Foundation, which has met needs for people in the Mid-South since 2002. In addition to providing funds to help battle drug and alcohol addiction and supporting The Leader in Me program for students and the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center, the foundation has contributed to many nonprofits. They include the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, LeBonheur Research Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. More information is available at http://darrylworleyfoundation.org.
