Darryl Worley’s Tennessee River Run Helps Mid-South Residents in Need, Supports New Programs
Savannah, Tennessee (PRWEB) September 11, 2015 -- Wade Hayes, Lorrie Morgan and Tracy Lawrence will join Darryl Worley in headlining the 14th Annual Tennessee River Run concert Saturday, Oct. 3. The concert is one of many events that will raise money to help people battle drug and alcohol addiction and support the launch of the Leader in Me program for middle school students, as well as continuing to fund other projects of the Darryl Worley Foundation.
“I see things that just constantly remind me that what we’re here for — all of us — is to help other people, our fellow man,” Worley said. “The fact of the matter is all that music stuff is good. But when I’m gone, what we’re doing here today is what’s going to matter.”
Upcoming fundraising events include a golf tournament Friday, Sept. 25, at Shiloh Golf Course in Adamsville and a bass tournament and 5K color fun run at Pickwick Landing State Park Saturday, Sept. 26.
Friday, Oct. 2, Worley will host hit songwriters Mark Narmore, Wynn Varble, Walt Aldridge and Jim “Moose” Brown at White Pillars, the home of Mayor and Mrs. Bob Shutt in Savannah for the Star-Spangled Songwriters’ Nite: Red, White and Boots. Attendees are encouraged to dress for the patriotic theme. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the show will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Songwriters will perform such hits as Narmore’s “That’s What I Love About Sunday,” Varble’s “Have You Forgotten,” which he co-wrote with Worley in 2003, Aldridge’s “I Loved Her First” and Brown’s “It’s 5 O’Clock Somewhere.” Worley will perform hit singles as well.
Sponsorship levels are $1,500 for a 10-seat table, which includes a meet-and-greet with the artists and $900 for an eight-seat table. Individual tickets are $100. To sponsor or secure tickets, individuals may call 731-607-3375 and 731-926-2667.
Saturday morning, Oct. 3, registration will begin at 8 a.m. (with kickstands up at 10 a.m.) for a motorcycle poker run. It will begin at Hardin County Middle School and Parris South Elementary Parking lots at 169 Lacefield Dr. in Savannah. A tattoo contest will be held in conjunction with the motorcycle poker run, although participants do not have to be in the poker run to participate. The contest will take place at Pickwick Landing State Park on the circle immediately following the poker run.
The headline concert will begin Saturday afternoon, Oct. 3, in downtown Savannah. Gates will open at noon, and the concert will begin at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $20, with free admission for children 12 and younger. Tickets may be purchased online at tnriverrun.org, by phone at 866-484-3877 and at outlets, including the Darryl Worley Foundation office, Hardin County Chamber of Commerce, Hardin County Convention and Visitors Bureau and many local banks. Worley will open the show in the afternoon, and Hayes, Morgan and Lawrence will follow on the main stage. A second stage, featuring Alyson Greene, Bryan Moffitt Band, Kirstie Lovelady, Brassfield Aly and Dead Horse, will perform during set changes. Entertainment will be nonstop.
Halfway through this year’s schedule, Tennessee River Run events have raised approximately $170,000 to date; activities during the next month will increase that total. The 2015 TRR kicked off in July with songwriters’ nights at Bumpus Harley-Davidson in Murfreesboro and Jackson.
Past years of the Tennessee River Run have raised more than $1.4 million for the Darryl Worley Foundation, which has met needs for people in the Mid-South since 2002. In addition to providing funds to battle addiction, raising money The Leader in Me program for students and supporting the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center, the foundation has contributed to many nonprofits. They include the Exchange Club-Carl Perkins Center, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
