Darryl Worley’s Tennessee River Run Welcomes Chuck Wicks, Kellie Pickler and Randy Houser to 15th Anniversary Concert
SAVANNAH, Tennessee (PRWEB) August 03, 2016 -- Chuck Wicks, Kellie Pickler and Randy Houser will join Darryl Worley in headlining the 15th Annual Tennessee River Run concert Saturday, Oct. 8. When gates open at noon, guests will be able to participate in children’s games and shop food and crafts. The concert will begin at 3:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 each, and children 12 and younger will be admitted free. The concert is one of many events that will raise money to help fund projects of the Darryl Worley Foundation, including The Leader in Me program and working with Hardin County Healthcare Foundation and Aspell Recovery Center in the fight against drug and alcohol addiction. “We’ve managed to do a lot by the grace of God over the past 15 years,” notes Worley. “We’re having the biggest years of fundraising now just because we’ve learned how to do it. It’s just a very positive thing that we’ve been able to accomplish.”
Summer events include a golf tournament on Friday, Aug. 12, at Shiloh Golf Course in Adamsville. A corn hole tournament will be held at Pickwick Landing State Park, and a boat poker run (http://pickwickpokerrun.com) will be held Saturday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at Pickwick. Worley will host Jonathan Singleton and the Grove, Shagadoo and Dixieland Mafia for a concert on the water at Pickwick Lake from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Freddy T’s will host the after-party at 5:30 p.m.
The TRR bass tournament will be held on Saturday, Sept. 10, at Pickwick Landing State Park. Registration is $200 per boat, and more information can be found at http://theworley.org.
Friday, Oct. 7, at 6 p.m., Worley will host hit Songwriters at White Pillars, a special event at the home of Mayor and Mrs. Bob Shutt in Savannah. Each year guests listen to the stories behind the hit songs, while they enjoy an intimate performance under the stars. Sponsorship levels are $1,500 for a 10-seat table, which includes a meet-and-greet with the artists, and $900 for an eight-seat table. Individual tickets are $100. On Saturday morning, Oct. 8, a 5K race will start at 8 a.m. at Pickwick Landing State Park. Later that morning, a scenic motorcycle ride will leave the state park at 10 a.m.; prizes will be awarded at the final stop at noon.
The headline concert with Wicks, Pickler, Houser and Worley will begin Saturday afternoon, Oct. 8, in downtown Savannah. Other artists performing include Alyson Greene, the Marshall Lowry Band, the Bryan Moffitt Band and Dead Horse. A singer, songwriter, conservationist, triathlon competitor and broadcast personality (serving as a host on America’s Morning Show), Wicks established himself as a songwriter before making the leap to hit recording artist. He has penned songs for Frankie Ballard, Steve Holy, the Swon Brothers and Jason Aldean, among others, and he co-wrote all but one song on his 2008 RCA album, “Starting Now.” As an artist, he has released such hits as “Stealing Cinderella” and “All I Ever Wanted.” The songs on his album, “Turning Point,” range from the moody angst of “She’s Gone” to the playful “Salt Life” to the ballad “Always.”
Since first gaining fame as a contestant on the fifth season of “American Idol,” Pickler has released four critically acclaimed albums, including her Gold-certified debut, “Small Town Girl,” and “100 Proof,” which Rolling Stone named the Best Country Album of 2011. Among her best known hits are the Gold-certified “Red High Heels,” “I Wonder,” “Best Days of Your Life,” “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” “Things That Never Cross a Man’s Mind,” “Didn’t You Know How Much I Loved You,” and “No Cure for Crazy.” Her CMT docu-comedy series, “I Love Kellie Pickler,” co-stars her husband, songwriter/producer Kyle Jacobs. Houser has racked up three consecutive No. 1 hits and more than four million in singles sales to date with his Stoney Creek Records album, “How Country Feels.” He topped the charts with the title track, “Runnin’ Outta Moonlight” and “Goodnight Kiss” (also his first No. 1 as a songwriter) and earned critical acclaim for his powerful delivery of the Top 5 smash and nomination for CMA Song of the Year, “Like A Cowboy.” Houser added a fourth No. 1 to his catalog with “We Went,” the lead single from his new album, “Fired Up,” and recently released “Song Number 7.”
Known for his patriotism and support for U.S. troops, Worley has had nearly 20 hit singles and six albums. Among his best-known hits are “Awful, Beautiful Life,” “Have You Forgotten,” and “I Miss My Friend,” which came to him via a songwriter friend in Nashville. Worley’s latest release, “Rainmaker,” was recorded after he and his wife were in Fiji Feb. 20, 2016, when Cyclone Winston struck the island nation. Touched by the tragedy that took 44 lives and caused nearly $500 million of property damage, Worley has set aside proceeds from the sales of “Rainmaker” to benefit Cyclone Winston relief efforts.
Previous years of the Tennessee River Run have raised more than $1.6 million for the Darryl Worley Foundation, which has met needs for people in the Mid-South since 2002. In addition to providing funds to help battle drug and alcohol addiction and supporting The Leader in Me program for students and the Darryl Worley Cancer Treatment Center, the foundation has contributed to many nonprofits.
