Datavail Study Finds Outsourcing Database Administration is Critical to Enterprise DBMS Strategy
Broomfield, Colo. (PRWEB) March 27, 2014 -- According to Datavail-commissioned research conducted by Forrester Consulting, the growing trend in outsourcing database administration is here to stay. In fact, 56 percent of respondents to the Datavail study reported that they plan to continue or increase the level of database administration they outsource. In addition to lowering administration costs, the study found that outsourcing can help improve database performance while making database operations more efficient and cost effective.
In the next 10 years, Forrester estimates that large enterprises will double the number of databases fueled by more next-generation mobile, cloud and real-time applications. To support this anticipated database growth, enterprises need to identify ways to effectively and cost-consciously manage their databases. According to Forrester’s research, enterprises that outsource their database administration are more likely to “respond quickly to business needs and competitive threats, save money, grow faster than their competitors and deliver innovative products and services .”
“Databases are becoming more critical, require a vastly increasing amount of storage, improved availability and enhanced security,” said Noel Yuhanna, principal analyst, Forrester Research, Inc., in a video about the research findings. “As a result, we’ve noticed a trend in database outsourcing. I predict this phenomenal growth will continue thanks to mobile and cloud applications. There’s huge opportunity here.”
Datavail agrees, and points to its year-over-year growth as evidence of this growing trend in outsourcing. In just two years, Datavail has tripled in size, and is now the largest pure-play database services company in North America. The company serves more than 3,000 clients ranging from mid-market firms to the Fortune 100. For two consecutive years Datavail has been named to the Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing private companies, moving up 47 spots in 2013.
“While Datavail continues to grow quickly, we also want to grow strategically by understanding the real needs of enterprises, and Forrester’s findings gave us some valuable insight,” said Mark Perlstein, CEO, Datavail. “Drawing connections between how an enterprise addresses their database administration and their responsiveness, competitive edge and ability to deliver innovation really crystalizes the impact of outsourcing in today’s data-driven world. It also underscores the important role we play in helping organizations be successful. We will continue to work closely with our customers to ensure we are providing optimum support for their database needs.”
