David Kiger Shares Advice on Creating a Positive Company Culture
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) June 04, 2015 -- Company culture affects almost every aspect of a business. Creating a positive environment for your employees to work in can make them happier, more engaged and more productive.
David Kiger, founder and executive chairman of the global logistics company Worldwide Express, has outlined four tips that companies can use to foster healthy working relationships and create a positive company culture.
1. Be open to communication. “Communication is arguably the cornerstone of any good relationship – including relationships with co-workers,” said Kiger. “When managers are clear and honest about their expectations, employees tend to work better. Having an open communication relationship will make employees feel more comfortable asking questions or seeking help when needed.”
2. Show your employees you care. “Employees are human and should be treated as such,” said Kiger. “One way to care for employees is to recognize their hard work and accomplishments. Another great way is to simply listen to them. Show them you value their input and give them the opportunity to shape their own company culture.”
3. Trust is the foundation for success. “As cliché as it may be, it is true,” said Kiger. “Employees value honesty and fairness in the workplace, but how do leaders and managers achieve it? Keeping promises, making firm commitments and keeping team members updated are all great starts. Managers should establish relationships in which coworkers feel supportive and subtle. Doing this builds loyalty within the organization.”
4. Don’t be afraid to have a little fun. “Employees tend to be more productive, more engaged and more successful when they work in a fun environment,” said Kiger. “A positive environment leads to fewer sick days being taken, higher profitability and lower turnover rates for companies. It also crucial for leaders and managers to get to know employees outside of the office setting. Holiday office parties, company outings and light-hearted office competitions are great ways boost camaraderie in the workplace.”
Creating a positive company culture for your organization does not happen over night. It requires constant and consistent execution. Ultimately, the extra work devoted to creating your company’s ideal culture will pay off in more ways than one.
