David Kocka’s New Release “Bear With Me, My Deer: Tails Of A Virginia Wildlife Biologist” Presents Humorous Encounters With Wildlife And Their Interactions With People
(PRWEB) July 27, 2017 -- “Bear With Me, My Deer: Tails of a Virginia Wildlife Biologist”, the often humorous stories of a Virginia wildlife biologist. “Bear With Me, My Deer: Tails of a Virginia Wildlife Biologist” is the creation of published author, David Kocka. David holds his AA degree in Wildlife Technology from Garrett Community College, his BS degree in Wildlife Resources from West Virginia University, and his MS in Wildlife Management from the University of Tennessee. Upon completing his graduate work, he worked as the Furbearer Biologist for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation two years. Since 1989, David has been a District Wildlife Biologist with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries. He became a certified wildlife biologist with the Wildlife Society in 1992. His current responsibilities are the implementation of agency wildlife habitat and population programs throughout six Northwestern Virginia counties. David has been a frequent guest lecturer at Bridgewater College, George Mason University, and James Madison University. Since 2014, he has served as an adjunct professor at JMU where he teaches a course in Wildlife Management. He has published over thirty popular and professional articles pertaining to wildlife management. He has also mentored numerous college students.
What exactly does a wildlife biologist for a state agency do? Contrary to many of his relative’s perceptions, David Kocka is not a park ranger, a forest ranger, or even a game warden. Bear With Me, My Deer: Tails of a Virginia Wildlife Biologist is a glimpse into one man’s adventures while working for an agency, which is responsible for managing the wildlife resources within its boundaries.
Published by Christian Faith Publishing, David Kocka’s new book is the author’s account of his career as a wildlife biologist.
“Bear With Me, My Deer: Tails of a Virginia Wildlife Biologist” gives an account of author David Kocka’s adventures in the field. Throughout his thirty years as a wildlife biologist, David had many interesting encounters with wildlife and people, including some who have become lifelong friends. Set in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, these true stories enable readers to enjoy the same wildlife encounters experienced by the author.
The often humorous adventures of his career have taken David to the top of a parking garage in pursuit of a black bear and to the middle of a college campus to remove a hormone-driven deer trapped inside a convenience store. Humor is an important tool, which David has used almost as often as his dart pistol. These accounts document adventures that have taken place day and night. When nature calls, the wildlife biologist must answer.
